LIFESTYLE: FROM HAMBURGER TO DONUT, 5 WAYS TO TRY THE CHILE EN NOGADA

September arrived and the Chiles en Nogada with it! I tried different ways of this delicious Mexican dish, so here are my favorites!

One of my favorite Mexican dishes has always been the Chile en Nogada, and the last year I noticed that some restaurants have different versions of it. I’ll tell you my favorites:

1) Chili Burger in Nogada – BUTCHER & SONS (Orizaba 87 / @butcherandsons)
One of the dishes I had to try was the Butcher & Sons hamburger with chile en nogada, and let me tell you that it is a gem. The meat is prepared with apple, peach, raisins, onion nuts and brandy; while the nogada carries a nutty touch, almond, brandy and goat cheese for a creamier texture. One of my favorites!

2) Ice Cream – GLACE (Mérida 215 or Dr. Mora 9 / @glacehelado)
It may sound weird, this ice cream is such a delight. Its preparation consists of a base of goat cheese, to which poblano chili, nogada and cinnamon are added. For decoration, they use pomegranate and walnut, a must! Although Chile en Nogada ice cream is only available on September, Glace sells different flavors per month: pumpkin, pan de muerto, brie cheese, green tea, orange, caramel with salt, among others.

3) Bowl – BAMBOO POKÉ BAR (Oscar Wilde 20 / @bamboopokemx)
Hard to believe, the base of this bowl is made of white rice and it has tuna, nogada, chile serrano, pomegranate and chichitos. Just amazing! Also, I tried the flavored water of the day: melon water with amaranth and honey. Definitely, you have to try it!

4) Torta – L’ENCANTO DE LOLA (Calle Amargura 14 / @encantodelola)
This torta is of my favorites. The chile has pork loin inside, peach, citron, cinnamon, clove and castilla walnuts. The bread is homemade, and the nogada sauce has Philadelphia cheese, with makes it a little bit salty. Speechless!

5) Sushi – KAZUMA (Julio Verne 38)
This sushi is a gem. It is stuffed with pork, wrapped with poblano pepper (which replaces the seaweed) and bathed with nogada and pomegranate sauce, just great!

6) Donuts – CATAMUNDI (Alejandro Dumas 97 / @catamundi)
These donuts are also a delight. They have chili poblano jelly inside, and the nogada sauce has goat cheese, castilla walnut, sherry and sugar. They use pomegranate for decoration, you have to try them! Although this donuts are only available in September, you can try others such as bacon and maple or matcha donuts!

I recommend you try some of this before September ends!

Kisses!
